AN EASY SOURCE OF EXTRA INCOME FOR ANYONE
One of the easiest (and best) ways of making extra money is by collecting old newspapers and selling them to a "recycling plant" in your area.
Just look around your own home - in the garage or the basement. What do you do with the old newspapers after you've read them? Most likely they just pile up in a corner of the garage or basement until one of your kids asks if he can haul them off for the school or cub scout paper drive. Or maybe your wife and kids get ambitious some week end, clean out the garage and haul all those newspapers off to the collection truck at the local
shopping center.
It's true that selling stacks of newspapers you've accumulated during the past couple of months or so won't make you rich, or really amount to much extra income. But think about the stacks of old newspapers you would have if you were to collect and haul away for the people in your neighborhood - say a ten-pound stack of newspapers from each house on your street every Saturday. The picture changes, doesn't it?
If you're serious, and get yourself properly organized, you can easily make $300 or more every weekend.
Right now the going rate for old newspapers is about $50 a ton, depending upon your area. Most recycling depots prefer the papers loose, rather than bundled or sacked. Check with the recycling plant you plan to sell to before delivery to them. Cardboard - ordinary cardboard boxes that have been flattened - is bringing approximately $75 a ton. If you're going to collect old newspapers, you may just as well take cardboard too. Most people have old boxes around that are just taking up space, and some will even pay you to get rid of them.
You start by clearing a space in your garage for storage. One side of a two-car garage, or just an 8 by 12 foot space would be sufficient. If you have a garden shed that is dry, that would work well also. Some collectors even rent space in a neighborhood mini-warehouse.
Next, you should place an ad in your community newspaper or the weekly shopping news, something like this: Junk, old newspapers and cardboard boxes hauled away. Phone 123-4567. Then you visit your neighbors. Tell them you are collecting and
hauling away all the old newspapers and boxes in he neighborhood each week. You might even offer them $5 a month if they'll have everything ready for you when you make your weekend collection rounds.
On Saturdays, starting at about 9:00 a.m., rent an open trailer and hitch it to your car. If you have a pick-up truck, so much the better. With your wife and kids, a couple of neighbor boys, or perhaps a couple of teenage "huskies" you've hired through your local high school, start making your rounds. You drive the car with the trailer. Your helpers, one on each side of the side, knock on each door and ask the residents if they
have any old newspapers or cardboard boxes you can haul away for them.
It would be advantageous for you to have a large sign on each side of your trailer, and on each side of the car as well. It might read: Paper Collection Service.
Visit the people you've talked to on your block first. That will give you some paper in the trailer and from there, you just expand. Go to the next block and the next, driving up and down the streets, visiting, stopping at all the homes, in an ever expanding ripple from your own street.
When your trailer is full of old newspapers, you can either take them directly to your recycling plant and sell the load, or take them to your storage area, unload them, and get everything organized. It's very important, though, that you get right back to the job of knocking on doors and collecting more newspapers and cardboard.
Some people will (foolishly) collect a load, take it in for sale, and then waste time gloating over the easy money they've just made. One load won't make you rich or even really pay for your time. Get right back on the job and collect as many loads as the daylight hours will allow.
Make the same rounds; follow the same collection routes, at least once every two weeks. Once you've hot the routine working well, you'll be ready to hire a couple of high school or college students to help, perhaps with another car and trailer.
The best way to pay your help is with a percentage of the tonnage you sell. And then too, once you have it all together, you'll want to go with a truck or trailer that allows you to haul a couple of tons of paper per load.
It's important that you make regular rounds, calling on the same houses regularly. After about six months of this, you'll be ready to open a local recycling depot.
This simply means taking the accumulation of paper out of your home or garden shed and moving it to a business location. Because of your advertising in the newspapers, and the sign on your truck or trailer, people will be calling you during the week to come and pick up paper they have ready for you. Also, your neighbors will very likely be dropping by with armloads of paper for you from time to time, as well. Specifically, these are the reasons you'll need storage space to store the paper in your garage or other storage area until you have enough to load up and take to the recycling plant.
One of the best locations for your recycling depot is an abandoned or closed down service station. Or perhaps a vacant lot, or even a corner of a large shopping center parking area. You'll need a scale (you can rent or lease one of these for a small amount), and a quick set-up tent or large truck. What you want to do is establish a location where people can come to you. They bring their newspapers, you weigh what they've
brought and pay them a penny a pound for newspapers and two cents a pound for cardboard boxes. You can hire someone to man this center for you during the day, or perhaps only open between 4 and 6 o'clock in the after-noons. Advertise your hours, and be dependable, so that people can count on you.
To establish your location, you'll have to check with the owner or management, and agree not to interfere with their regular mode of business. If you do go to a shopping center parking lot, sell them on the idea that your recycling depot - clean and neat - will actually bring more people into the shopping center on a regular basis. The important thing always is to establish yourself in the best possible location for the least amount of money from your pocket.
Even though you have a collection depot, you'll still want to continue your week end collection rounds. But with a collection depot, you can hire other people to do the driving, knock on doors, make the collections and transfer their loads into the depot facility. If it's a big truck or trailer, you'll be selling ten to fifteen tons of paper when ever you make your trips to the recycling plant.
Another important thing you should think about doing is getting the whole community involved with you. Get them to thinking about recycling paper and selling it to you. Run some promotions; work for free publicity; and be conspicuous. Don't be embarrassed; everyone is aware of the need for recycling everything that can be recycled. And you'll be admired as someone with the ambition to make it happen.

Workplace Injuries
Did that raise your attention level? I hope so, because this problem doesn't rest on the shoulders of the insurance companies. It rests on the shoulders of every business owner and something needs to be done. Now.
One of the first steps in controlling this ever growing giant is to educate the very people in charge of their company's workers' compensation and safety programs. Many of these individuals are aware only of the direct costs; i.e., what they pay for their workers' compensation insurance.
We all know keeping your employees safe and healthy is the number one priority, or should be, of every company across the country. However, companies need to be competitive in order to be profitable and remain a significant player in the marketplace. Yet sometimes, companies looking to cut costs will consider slashing its safety and workers' compensation budget.
With that said, this move may end up costing the company more money than what it could potentially save. Workers' compensation and safety budgets are too often viewed upon as a shade of gray. Meaning, it's very difficult to truly see value and monitor the rewards of your efforts in hard dollars. The only thing black and white is the dollars going out in workers' compensation premiums.
As we just described above, the direct costs of safety and workers' compensation are the premiums paid, safety investments, and incentive programs. The indirect costs can be described as all unbudgeted costs associated with an injury in order to get the employee back to pre-injury status. With a direct versus indirect cost ratio of 4:1, the indirect costs need to be identified to understand the implications of each injury that occurs. Some of these costs include, but not limited to:
Damage to equipment, machinery, materials, facility, etc.
Production downtime
Lower employee morale
Loss of products or services
Delays in shipment or filling orders
Additional overtime
Managers' lost time resulting from the accident. Also includes inspections, investigations, meetings, and administration
Employees assisting with the accident. Includes administering first aid, and witness interviews
Hiring and training replacement workers
Wages of replacement workers
Other non-productive time incurred by the injured employee. Includes all medical related appointments
Potential OSHA penalties
Attorney fees

Preventing Prostate Cancer
Even though it's possible to somewhat prevent prostate cancer, it just can't work for every person. It's still strange but nothing ever works for every person, especially because our bodies are different and work differently. This article contains 5 super tips that will help with preventing prostate type of cancer.1 - Lose Weight: It's best to cut down on your weight as much as possible. Too much weight isn't good for your health and this might somewhat increase your chances of developing the condition. But of course this hasn't been proven - it's just a general good idea to cut down on your weight.
2 - Engage in Exercises: Exercises help to keep us generally healthy and can help to somewhat prevent prostate cancer. This also hasn't been 100% proven, but it helps to always engage in some form of "activity" at least a couple of times each week. Does it hurt if we do this to preserve our general health? Of course not. It will surely help clean out our systems generally.
3 - Eat Lots of Fruits and Vegetables: They help to flush out the toxins which gather in your body and which may cause abnormal growth of cells in your prostate. Fruits and vegetables contain fibers that help to empty toxic particles in the cells.
4 - Cut Down on Red Meat: Instead, you should eat lots of fish. Omega-3 fatty acids are sourced from some kinds of fish. These substances help to reduce the appearance of cancer cells in the body. In the US journal of clinical cancer Research, a publication was made which revealed that eating oily fish could reverse inherited prostate cancer genes.
5 - Eat Tomatoes: They are rich in a substance known as Lycopene. This substance is an antioxidant that gets rid of free radicals in the cells. Free radicals cause growth of cancer cells in the body.
Controlled (RC) Aircraft
There is something about flying that excites and amazes certain people. Many people often dream of flying, but resist following that dream because it seems too difficult and too expensive. However, the excitement and dreams of flying have become a reality with radio-controlled (RC) aircraft. Actually, some of the RC aircraft today can give you the best flight of your life. If you would talk to a dedicated RC plane hobbyist, they would tell of the excitement of heading to an RC field on a warm, sunny day to fly their planes and to enjoy the camaraderie of other hobbyists and RC club members. It is always amazing to see the many different styles of aircraft and how they maneuver through the air.Radio-controlled planes have a rich history, and provide a suitable hobby for all ages and skill levels. Flying enthusiasts have a large variety of aircraft to choose from, making the hobby more exciting for all hobbyists from the beginner to the expert. You can pick and choose what you want depending upon your taste and the available money you have to spend. Generally, the ideal choice of a particular RC plane depends upon a combination of style and pilot skill level.
For beginners, park flyers are a great choice. The term "park flyer" denotes small, primarily electric planes. They are so named because they are small enough to be flown inside public parks. The recommended aircraft for beginners is an A-R-F (Almost Ready To Fly) high-wing trainer. A-R-F planes are already built and don't require a lot of time and building experience to get ready for flight. A-R-F planes also have fairly large wing spans (60-70 inches) which aid in better visibility and flight operation.
For intermediate hobbyists, there are glow plug engine planes and electric powered planes. Glow plugs, which are similar to spark plugs, ignite the fuel in the plane operating as a small internal combustion engine.
For the expert pilot, jets, helicopters, and competition aircraft are very popular and provide an exciting challenge. Sophisticated electronics and speed controllers have now taken the controlling of an RC airplane to higher levels. These aircraft are no longer considered toys just to play around with. Jets commonly use ducted fans or micro turbines to power them. They are constructed of carbon fiber and fiber glass. Jets can achieve speeds over 200 mph, requiring quick reflexes and many hours of flying experience. Helicopters are trickier to fly than planes and are much less forgiving.
If you want to get started flying RC planes the following information may help you:
Flying aircraft of any type is not a skill we are born with. Purchasing any radio-controlled aircraft and trying to fly without some basic knowledge may possibly result in the destruction of the model. When this happens right off the bat, most prospective flyers get discouraged and pass on an exciting hobby. Flying RC aircraft is not difficult but does require some practice to become proficient enough to have your plane soar through the skies and return for a safe landing. Teaching yourself to fly is possible; however, if you find a local flying club and seek some help from the experienced flyers is the ultimate way to learn. A flight simulator can aid in learning the fundamental movements and actions of an airplane. It is an easy and convenient way to practice the simplest turns to the most complex maneuvers. It must be remembered that the flight simulator does just what it's name implies, it simulates the actions of an airplane. The simulator is not the real thing and most planes react differently in the air.

Menopause
Menopause is a disorder that starts to develop in women when they reach mid thirties and early forties. As the level of estrogen that is a very important hormone in the woman's body start to decrease, then that phase is known as premenopause. As a result women who experience premenopause will suffer menopause symptoms such as hot flashes at night along with sleeplessness, excess vaginal bleeding and irregular menstrual cycles.A variety of choices to cure or reduce the impact of menopause symptoms are taken by patients depending on the patient's case and the consultation with the doctor. A type of menopause treatment might not be preferable for a certain woman while that same treatment may show work perfectly with another woman. Let us look further into discussing some popular products for menopause in the market.
Herbs that derived from the roots, shoots and leaves of certain plants and trees such as Chaste Tree and Black Cohosh are often used as products for menopause because of the immense advantages which they provide to the patient. Black Cohosh is used to relief menopause symptoms like hot flashes while Chaste Tree is used to regulate the levels of body's hormone. Then there are oral care products such as menopause toothpaste which made from natural sea salts that can fights tooth decay and bad breath naturally.
Beside the herbs that mention above, Ayurveda is also suggested by doctors as one of the products for menopause. The use of Ayurveda products have been proven no negative effects and are totally safe. Many women have use Ayurveda products to help them to live a healthy life.
Another menopause product which should be mentioned here is the new calcium soft chews for women who go through menopause. The calcium soft chews should be taken everyday because they give vitamins and vital calcium to the body. Moreover these soft chews can also be consumed by children and adults who aren't experience menopause symptoms.

Faraday Sleeping Cages
The future of medicine is no doubt going to include a lot of vibrational frequency schemes. Why you ask? Well, it is pretty simple. You see, cells vibrate at a specific frequency, healthy cells are able to communicate and do what they do best. If your body vibrated at the correct frequency all the time, your immune system would be virtually unstoppable, and that would mean you could prevent illness, and cure yourself of nearly anything. This is why at least a few futurists are speaking out now for devices that surround human sleeping areas, like a Faraday Cage, which blocks out disruptive frequency, which is all around us from our personal electronic devices, to our radio, WiFi, TV, and cell phone transmitters. None of this is very good for us, although some of the frequency ranges cause us little harm.
Now then, if we can block out the bad frequency from bombarding our body and causing us harm or disrupting our bio-rythms, then we could then use a surround sound system within the Faraday Cage to bombard our bio system with good vibrations; "Good, Good, Good, Good Vibrations," or so the song goes. Can you see the benefits here?

Why Girls Need Their Daddy
Fathers Day is the perfect time to reflect on how very important fathers are. We all know how much boys need their dads, but what about girls? Do they need their dads as much as boys do? Can mothers provide everything a girl needs, or is there something very special that only a father can provide?
Fathers are vital to their daughters. The way a woman feels about herself is very much dependent on how she was treated by her father as she was growing up. Without a father's unconditional love, girls can grow up to have low self-esteem and low self-image. The lack of a father's love can leave a girl with serious self-worth issues, especially if she perceives that her father abandoned her. Girls who've grown up without a father's love can subconsciously crave male attention and seek to fill this void in unhealthy ways. Feeling 'not good enough' for a good loving relationship with a man, they are vulnerable to becoming involved in abusive relationships or becoming promiscuous. They are more at risk of teenage pregnancy due to going through puberty earlier and becoming sexually active at a younger age. Women who have missed out on their daddy's love are also more at risk of developing depression.
It's been heart-warming to witness the relationship blossom between my husband and our daughter over the past five and a half years. I remember standing at the doorway of our daughter's bedroom one night as her father tucked her in and said goodnight. "Daddy, you're my true love", she said as she wrapped her tiny arms around his neck. Gracie, like most other four-year-old girls loves fairytales--stories of princes rescuing princesses, true love's kiss, and happily ever after. Her daddy is her prince, her protector, her provider, and her true love. It brings me such joy to see how different my little girl's experience is to my own.
Sadly, like me, there are millions of young girls growing up today without their daddy's love. Their prince, provider and protector is not there to give his princess the special love that only a father can give. Today, up to around a half of marriages end in divorce. This means that many children are growing up in homes where they are separated from one parent, most often their father. Unfortunately, in some cases, mothers are unnecessarily preventing their daughters from maintaining vital contact with their father because of the pain and bitterness of divorce. Sadly in many homes, instead of love, some girls are being abused by their daddy. Sometimes daddy's present in the home but he just isn't there for his daughters. Then there are the children conceived outside of a committed relationship who are being left to be raised by their mother. There are also many children being raised by only their mothers, who choose IVF in their desire for a child. Is it possible that many mothers as well as fathers do not realise just how much their children, regardless of their gender, need both a mother and a father?
Unfortunately for me and my siblings, my father was a violent alcoholic who was ripped from my life when I was a child. We didn't even get to say goodbye. I have very few good childhood memories of him, but I remember how much my heart ached when there was no contact after we were separated. I grew up craving my father's love and found myself in painful relationships, feeling unworthy and starving for the love of a man. I went through two divorces, debilitating clinical depression, sexual abuse and domestic abuse.

Staying at work past midnight to get the proposal finished.
Going above and beyond the call of duty.
These are touchstones every Gold seeks. Therefore, they tend to be a dedicated lot that you can count on to keep their word when push comes to shove. They believe in order to excel, they need to be completely dedicated to their chosen path. They need to be prepared to work hard and be willing to accept criticism, even if it is negative. Without 100% dedication, they believe they will never be able to achieve their goals.
The person who makes a success of living is the one who see his goal steadily and aims for it unswervingly. That is dedication. -- Cecil B. DeMille
One aspect of dedication that shouldn't be overlooked is that dedicated people separate themselves from the crowd. When a building is dedicated, it is given a specific mission that sets it apart from other structures. It is reserved for a special purpose or for a specific audience. Similarity, when people are dedicated they set aside their normal life in order to accomplish a special mission or objective. They focus all available time and energies to accomplish their goals. It is this separation than makes success possible.

Facing the Future
Some people find it hard to face the future: they prefer to live in the past, or at least, that part of the past which they really enjoyed. That's OK, though. Some people can make a good living out of their nostalgia.Artist Lawrence Cassidy is used to making the most of things. When he saw that his local High Street clothing store was shutting up shop in Manchester, England, he walked in and asked them to give him the plastic coat hangers that they had planned to throw out. They offered him two huge cardboard boxes, full of unwanted hangers. They would be ideal for his new show, he explained: he had a series of blown-up photographs and the prints would look great dangling from string, in lines, from the coat hangers, high up on the walls of the exhibition space. The new 'installation' opened in Salford in February 2008.
A year before, Lawrence had mounted a show at Salford Museum and Art Gallery. That mainly consisted of family photographs that people had given him and old maps of the area, but the unique feature was a series of road signs, abandoned when that part of Salford was being redeveloped recently. Lawrence had approached the men working on the demolition project and they were happy to save the street signs and let him take them away. They missed some of them, so the artist went back in the dead of night and prised the plaques off the walls of the collapsing buildings himself. It's probably not legal, he agrees, but they're vital relics of bygone days, he says, and need to be saved.
Is everything that Lawrence Cassidy works with 'found' and saved? Not at all, he says. Most of the photographs, he points out, are domestic snaps, donated to him by interested families. He is happy to scan them on to his computer and return the family albums, once the contents have been added to his collection. He collects the views, it seems, and one day he hopes to build up a complete archive on the internet of all the vanished streets of East Salford, an A-Z of lost roads and buildings, most of them swept away in the widespread clearances of the 1970s. People like to remember those times, he says. Visitors to his exhibitions certainly seem to share his enthusiasm, and are happy to stay and chat, swapping stories with other people they meet at the shows. Sometimes people have even met up with old friends and neighbours, men and women they haven't seen for years. They happily remember the old days.
Why? What was so great about these former times? After all, the main focus of Lawrence's exhibition 'Retracing Salford' is on life in the 1950s and '60s. In those days there were street after street of tiny terraced houses, most of them with no inside bathroom, with small bedrooms that sometimes large families had to share. One couple admitted that they came from homes with eight or nine children in them, all of the family sharing a mere three bedrooms. How did they all fit it? Also, at this time, money was scarce and hard to come by. Food was adequate but not often plentiful. Sometimes people went hungry. And yet - The most remarkable thing to come out of the experiences that Lawrence is cataloguing is how happy most people claim to have been. 'Great times', 'Good Days', 'Happy Lives', are just some of the comments. So, in those simple times, before most families owned a television, let alone had a car in the household, people say that they were content and enjoyed life.
There's a huge lesson here for planners and politicians. Too many of these do-gooders seem to be still convinced that all you need for Inner City redevelopment is to demolish the tumble-down houses of yesteryear and replace them with new concrete and glass constructions. Once people have a new bathroom, they argue, they will be happy and content. It isn't true. It wasn't true in the 1970s, the last time that East Salford was 'improved', and it isn't true now. Still the old terraces are still being swept away and new soul-less blocks put up. Still the residents express dissatisfaction. Why is nobody learning lessons from the past?

Satellite Broadband
If you've finally made the upgrade from dial-up to satellite broadband, you already know what a true pleasure it is to have access to high speed, no frills internet. You're downloading music, videos and files faster than ever before. You're watching live streaming videos and participating in any number of all the hottest and newest web 2.0 communities. You twitter. You pay your bills online. You buy all your Christmas and birthday gifts online. You may even do your grocery shopping online. You chat with your grandparents via Skype; you videoconference with friends in France. You have a Second Life.Satellite internet affords you many services that you never would have had the opportunity of enjoying had you stuck with dial-up. The speeds and the possibilities may even have you taken aback, at least at first. However, all that speed means that you need to take precautions. Internet security is something everyone has to be aware of, whether you've got broadband DSL, cable or satellite internet.
More speed means you can do more things. However, your ability to do more also means you have to be more careful. When you start downloading files, there's a danger of downloading a virus or malware. You have to download safely and learn to recognize that not all files are created equal, and that some carry nasty bots that could devastate your computer.
When you have satellite broadband, before you start getting click happy, do get yourself some antivirus software. This stuff is vital. Viruses abound on the internet and you really don't want to get caught unprepared. There are both commercial and free antivirus programs available. Many programs are available to be downloaded online. Some allow you to use the program for a limited trial period, after which you'll have to pay for a license. Otherwise you can simply venture over to your local computer store and buy antivirus software there. What these programs do is protect or insulate your computer from malware, worms, bots, viruses and the like from getting into your computer and damaging data, stealing information, and generally messing up how your computer works. You have to be sure to keep your software updated constantly, but usually you don't have to worry about this as any antivirus program you get will update automatically.

Mobile Phone For Your Child
Up until very recently, very few children had their own mobile phones. This was partly due to widespread reluctance amongst parents to let their children have them, and partly due to the prohibitive cost of both the handsets themselves and the phone calls made on them.Affordable phones with pay as you go contracts, and the introduction of specialised phones for children with parental controls built in have changed all this, however, to the point where nearly half of all children under the age of 15 in the UK have their own cell phone, and this figure is growing all the time.
A cell phone can provide parents with a method of getting in touch with their children in an emergency, or to let them know if they are going to be late. Some phones even come with a GPS device, which allows parents to track the movements of their children via a laptop or a PDA, which could be a lifesaver if they go missing.
A lot of parents also see a mobile phone as being a good way to teach children the value of money and how to handle responsibility. Pay as you go phones force children to evaluate their cell phone use in terms of the money that it costs. If they cant afford to go to the movies because they spent all of their pocket money on an hour long phone call, they will soon learn to restrict their phone use to more sensible levels.
However, many parents still have concerns about getting children their own cell phones. As with the internet, a mobile phone can give a child a freedom to communicate with others that you may not be comfortable with, or expose them to influences that you would prefer to shield them from.
Another common concern is that children will run up giant phone bills by talking to their friends all the time, without realizing how much it is costing.
